Tips to Help You Blog Better
Over the last few years, the popularity of maintaining a blog has grown exponentially. While many people blog for fun or as a hobby, others maintain a blog to generate profit for their business. Blogging has changed the way consumers navigate the Internet as well as how they choose to spend their money. Consumers read blogs for a number of reasons including seeking advice, getting tips, and looking for recommendations on which products and services they should consider purchasing.
Because blogs have so much power, small business owners should consider starting a blog or rethinking how they maintain their current blog. Blogging has been proven to be effective for small business owners to market without having to be overly formal – many business blogs have a laid back tone, which is more conversational and appealing to consumers than traditional marketing tactics.
Content Should Be Useful and Relevant
While blogs can help you to promote your business, you shouldn’t not be hard selling with every post. Blog writing should be targeted to the consumer’s wants and needs as well as positioning the business as an industry expert within its niche. Instead of using your blog posts solely to sell something, consider offering information consumers will find useful and relevant to their lives.
For example, if you own a landscaping business, offer consumers tips on transitioning their yards from summer to winter or how to control weeds in their garden – these are useful tips consumers will enjoy and ones that will have them coming back to your blog and your business in the future. Positioning yourself as an industry expert helps to differentiate your business from other competitors in the field.
Create Posts that Consumers Can Relate To
Blogs give consumers a unique way to learn more about your business and the employees that work for you. Consider highlighting some personal information that relates to your business – for example, if you own a gluten free bakery, share the story of how got to where you are today (maybe you have a gluten allergy and were moved to help others). Highlighting employees is also effective for blogging, allowing consumers to know a little bit more about the people they may be interacting with in your business.
Highlight the Customer Experience
Happy customers are your best marketing tool, so sharing customer testimonials on your business blog can help to spread the word. When you get great feedback from customers happy with their experience, ask them to put their feelings into writing to be shared on your blog. Many times, consumers will read blogs to find out more about a company and its products before buying – if they read how happy a customer was with their service, they are more likely to give your business a try.
